Types Of Faux Leather

Artificial leather is generally divided into the following categories according to the synthetic resin used:

The first is PVC (polyvinyl chloride), which produces water, carbon dioxide and chlorine-containing compounds after combustion, and even chlorine gas;

The second is PE (polyethylene), which, after full combustion, theoretically produces only water and carbon dioxide;

The third, and most common, is called PU leather (polyurethane), and its fully combusted products include: water, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and a small amount of nitrogen-containing compounds.

Due to the different synthetic resins used in artificial leather, different types of substrates, different production methods, foaming and different uses, artificial leather can be divided into many types. Now the artificial leather is classified according to the synthetic resin used, the production process and the use.

1. PVC artificial leather

It is a mixture of polyvinyl chloride resin, plasticized type and other compounding agents, coated or laminated on the fabric, and made by a certain processing process. In addition, there are double-sided PVC artificial leather with a plastic layer on both sides of the substrate.

2. Polyamide artificial leather

It is a plastic product with a continuous cell structure made by the method of nylon 6 or nylon 66 solution slowly coated on the fabric and film.

3. Polyolefin artificial leather

Polyethylene artificial leather is a kind of foam artificial leather, which is made of low-density polyethylene resin as the main raw material, mixed with modified resin, cross-linking agent, lubricant, foaming agent and other components.

4. Polyurethane artificial leather

Polyurethane artificial leather is further divided into dry polyurethane artificial leather and wet polyurethane artificial leather. The so-called dry polyurethane artificial leather refers to a multi-layer structure composed of a multi-layer film and a base cloth after the solvent is volatilized from the solution of solvent-based polyurethane resin. The wet polyurethane artificial leather is a multi-layer structure with good air permeability and moisture permeability, and a continuous porous layer obtained by using the solvent-based polyurethane resin and the water film-forming method.
